About Scott Cohen, DDS
Dr. Scott Cohen is originally from New Rochelle, New York and is the oldest of four children. He received his primary education from New Rochelle public schools and was a highly decorated competitive swimmer. He swam for the world-renowned USS team Badger Swim Club and was voted team captain during his Junior and Senior years in addition to swimming throughout college. It was also in high school that Dr. Cohen's love for dentistry blossomed. His mother was an artist whose main medium was oil paintings, and he credits her with developing his dexterity, artistry, and creativity. Academically, he was an honors student with a passion for studying the sciences. The combination of artist and student led him to think about a career in healthcare at a very early age, despite having no doctors in his family. However, it wasn't until he began working as a dental assistant for his family dentist at age 16 that he realized dentistry was the only career he could seem himself happily doing. In 2002, he graduated with honors as a pre-dental student from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then continued his education at the New York University College of Dentistry where he completed his dream of becoming a dentist by earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. While most of his peers were focused solely on getting through dental school, Dr. Cohen's ambition led him to complete another lifelong dream: following his grandfather’s footsteps by serving our great country in the armed forces. In 2004, while still in dental school, he applied for and was granted a commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Upon graduating NYU, he immediately began Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, beginning a 5-year active duty career as a naval officer.
