About Kenneth R. Scherer, DDS
Dr. Kenneth R. Scherer graduated from the University of Oklahoma and received his D.D.S in 1983. In 1986, he and his family moved to the Tampa Bay Area. Spending time at home with his wife, Doc finds that watching movies helps keep his mental “boat” on an even keel. Doc recently gained a new “outrigger” that will soon call him “Grampie”. Granddaughter Aubree is the apple of Grampie Doc’s eye. Doc has also followed his heart and has a residence in New York, where he feels vibrant and alive. It also means that he’s got the choice between watching a movie, or checking out what’s playing on Broadway. Dr. Scherer has five children and voluntarily works with about ten women on a daily basis, even though he doesn’t like it. Normally, this combination would devolve any normal human male to a huddling mass of nerves which keeps to a dark corner, but Doc has developed some mighty fine defenses and also dallies in a bit of escapism. When challenged, Doc will burst into spontaneous song, perhaps one from a beloved musical, or maybe sing along with the easy listening station normally piping into the office. Another excellent mechanism he uses is throwing out one of his seemingly infinite trivial questions, which normally distracts unwary dental assistants or patients he is about to pounce. When these methods don’t have the desired effect, Doc can easily slip into a comforting dreamscape, which may play out his ambition to be a contestant on Jeopardy, or puts him on the sidelines with his favorite NFL team, the NY Giants. To know Doc is to know a brave man with a fighting spirit and the equilibrium of a gymnast as he walks the mental tightrope found at the Dental Office of Dunedin.
