About Jin Ha Joung, DMD
Dr. Joung is one of only a handful of dentists in the country to be trained and dually certified in two dental specialties; both Prosthodontics and Periodontics. His training provides him with a unique perspective in optimizing your oral health care both functionally and aesthetically. Dr. Joung received both his B.A. and D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and then went on to the University of Connecticut to obtain certificates in both Prosthodontics and Periodontics, in a 5-year combined program. Here he was awarded recognition for excellence by the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Joung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which means he has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of this specialty. Less than 25% of all practicing periodontists are board certified. It is one of the highest recognition afforded by the specialty. Periodontics is that specialty of dentistry which encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes and the maintenance of the health, function and aesthetics of these structures and tissues. Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes. As a dual specialist, Dr. Joung brings his knowledge and skill in both the prosthetic and surgical aspects of your overall treatment plan. He can utilize the latest technological advancements in implant dentistry to recreate your smile. His gentle approach and caring attitude will put you at ease. Dr. Joung is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American College of Prosthodontists, the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and the New Jersey Society of Periodontists. Dr. Joung is a New Jersey native and lives with his wife Dr. Cho, and four children Emma, Sophie Natalie and Matthew in Ridgewood.
