About Amy M. Van Fossen, DDS
I knew I was going to be a dentist when I was in the third grade; there is not another profession in the world I could ever see myself doing. Dentistry is my calling and I am proud to provide the level of care my practice offers to my patients. Being in such a rewarding profession where I can help people affects me deeply. One of the most important aspects of my practice is taking the fear and the unknown out of dentistry for my patients. I strive to be gentle, proficient and thorough. It is important that our patients understand what we do, and I am careful to answer their questions and concerns every step of the way. My patient-care focus is to treat each patient in the way I would hope any health care professional would for my own family: with honesty, integrity and kindness. After practicing elsewhere for over a decade, in October 2014, I moved my practice into the 5* Yelp- rated office space of Drs. Arnold Goot & James Robinson. I couldn't be happier with this transition. As a professional and self-professed “nerd” of sorts, I embrace the field of dentistry with great love and passion. I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2003 from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and my General Practice Residency certificate in 2004 from Northwestern Memorial Hospital. As an honor student and graduate of one of the most highly regarded dental schools in the country, I never stop learning. With the same caring spirit and level of attention I provide each and every one of my patients, I also apply the same focus and drive toward furthering my education. I have come to regard myself as a constant student in an ever-changing dental field. My patients can rest assured they are consulted and cared for by a cutting-edge, continually educated dentist who never stops learning and passing along top-notch care to her patients. After moving to Chicago in 2003, I was fortunate to meet and marry my wonderful husband, Kirk. In 2011, we were blessed with girl/boy twins. Double the fun! When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with family, attempting minor do-it-yourself home projects, and cheering for Chicago's sports teams. I'm a past- president of the Northside branch of the Chicago Dental Society and give volunteer time to organized dentistry as much as possible. I volunteer with Team Smile in collaboration with the Chicago Bears, and completed an externship serving the Navajo population, making complete dentures for those with Type I and II diabetes.
