About Sue G. Shoha, DDS
For over 25 years, I have been practicing general family and cosmetic dentistry in the local area. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1988 and before that a Bachelor in Science degree from New York University in 1984.. From a young age I knew I would be a physician and in high school I realized I could combine my love of art work with science to become a dentist. Although I really like the technical, detail oriented aspects of excellent dentistry, most of all, I enjoy the connection with my patients. Each one comes in with different issues and concerns and our journey is to create the best possible dental wellness as a team, with my patient (or family) taking an active role. I am a mother of 3 children and have spent a fair amount of time in doctors offices so I understand firsthand the concerns and anxieties of being a patient. My staff and I strive to treat each person we see with kindness, respect and compassion. We know that coming to see us can be a stressful experience for some and we work hard to help alleviate that discomfort. I have been a yoga teacher for many years and employ some of the same techniques while treating patients. This includes using specific deep breathing techniques to help lower heart rate thereby reducing the fight or flight response. My patients really appreciate this holistic approach and feel less anxious and tense. On a personal note, I like to stay active by running, doing yoga and water sports in the summer and skiing in the winter. My family and I focus on creating a balanced healthy lifestyle eating a wholesome primarily plant based diet, staying active and creating positive connections with family and friends and the rest of the community.
