About Michael C. Meshkov, DDS
Twenty years ago, Dr. Meshkov had end stage renal failure due to polycystic kidney disease. He was blessed to receive a gift of life, a new kidney, from a 5 year old boy who died in a fire. He is proud to represent Team Philadelphia in the National Transplant Olympics. This is an olympic style event that takes place every two years in different parts of the country, in which people that have received life saving organs participate in athletic competition. Team Philadelphia is the largest team in the country due to the numerous transplant hospitals in this area. Dr. Meshkov is currently the basketball coach for Team Philadelphia. He has won both gold and silver medals for basketball, as well as multiple gold medals in volleyball. He has also participated in the World Transplant Olympics as a member of Team USA in Manchester, England, where he competed in volleyball, squash, and badminton.
