About Kayla J. Weatherwax, DDS
I was born and raised in St. Johns, MI. Growing up, I was always fascinated with going to the dentist. I knew that I wanted to have a career in the healthcare field and my fond memories of the dentist as a child led me towards the dental field. I worked as a clinical assistant at Gentner Family Dentistry after high school and during the summer, solidifying my passion for dentistry even more. I graduated in the Top Ten of my class from St. Johns High School in 2011. After high school, I attended Michigan State University and in 2015 earned a Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences with a Health Promotion Specialization with Honors and was a member of the Honors College, earning an Honors College Degree. I then attended University of Michigan School of Dentistry. During my time there, I earned the Periodontal Award, the Lucile Conger scholarship, the Abigail Lawler scholarship and several departmental scholarships. During my last two years in the program, I worked in the evenings as a guided study leader for the first and second year students, mentoring them in pre-clinic. I graduated in May 2019, second in my class, earning the Periodontics Award and was inducted into the honors fraternity, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. In my spare time, I enjoy running, and have completed five half marathons. I also enjoy camping with my family all over the State of Michigan. I am so pleased to have re-joined the amazing team at Gentner Family Dentistry as an associate dentist and look forward to serving the patients in my community!
