About Kathryn J. Brown, DDS
From a very young age, I enjoyed going to the dentist. So much so, that I have worn almost every hat in the dental office at one time or another on my journey to be coming a dentist. I started my career in elementary school, extracting the loose teeth of my younger sister. My more formal education and training began with a bachelor of science in Biochemistry from the University of Detroit-Mercy. I earned an additional bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan in 2011, and then transitioned to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where I earned my DDS in 2015. Throughout my education, I worked at the front desk in general dentistry practices and pediatric practice, and strengthened my skills working as a dental assistant and dental hygienist. Upon earning my DDS, I was accepted to a general practice residency at St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital to further develop my abilities in more advanced dentistry, as well as working with special needs and medically compromised patients. I have a passion for working with children and patients with special needs, and enjoy the artistic side of restorative dentistry. I am a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Washtenaw District Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry. In my spare time, I volunteer as an attending at St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital Dentistry Program, and enjoy spending time with my family, practicing yoga, golfing, and figure skating.
