About Joseph M. Serra, DDS
Dr. Joseph Serra was born and raised in Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate studies and graduated from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1990. Since 1996, Dr. Serra has pursued excellence in clinical dentistry by taking extensive post-graduate continuing education at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. LVI, founded by Dr. William Dickerson, provides many advanced courses for dentists around the world. Dr. Serra was invited to become a clinical instructor at the institute. He has taught various courses, but his primary focus was on the Full Mouth Reconstruction course. Dr. Serra helped develop this course, which enables dentists to treat cases of advanced decay, trauma or occlusal dysfunction, while also correcting bite problems. Dr. Serra focuses on correcting these problems for his patients through physiologic dentistry. His knowledge of this type of dentistry allows him to treat TMJ disorders, which can cause jaw pain, migraine-strength headaches, tinnitus, facial pain and myriad other debilitating symptoms. Dr Serra and his family currently reside in Novi, where he and his wife enjoy travel and golf.
