About Joseph A. Picone, DMD
Dr. Joseph Picone graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1984 with a BS in Biophysics. In 1988, he graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine . Dr. Picone excelled in dental school and was awarded the Lewis Fox Award, which is given to the student with the best all-around clinical and didactic performance. In 1998, he was awarded fellowship to the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Picone is committed to continuing his education in order to provide the best possible care to his patients. In 2002, he was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and in 2009, he was awarded with the prestigious Academy of General Dentistry Mastership Award. Dr. Picone was also awarded the distinguished 68th Annual Daniel F. Lynch Award from the Dental Society of Greater Waterbury in April 2015. For many years, Dr. Picone was a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Behavioral Sciences and Community Health at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and served as a mentor to the dental students. Dr. Picone currently serves as a Board Examiner for the CDCA (The Commission on Dental Compency Assessments) which administers the NERB's exams to dental students throughout the USA and Jamaica. Dr. Picone is very involved with organized dentistry with memberships that include the Connecticut State Dental Association, American Dental Association, Fellowship in the American College of Dentists, Dental Society of Greater Southington, co-founder of National Italian/American Medical Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry(AGD).
