About Jason M. Merrithew, DDS
Dr. Jason Merrithew has been in private practice since 2004 in Traverse City, and is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry class of 2004. He and his wife Carrie have two amazing children. Hanna (15) is a freshman at St Francis High School, Andrew (11) is in 5th grade, and they also have two Newfoundland dogs, “Molly” and “Charlie”. As a family the Merrithews are very active in sports and their community. They enjoy running, boating, ice hockey and being active outdoors. Dr. Merrithew is one of three dentists at Deerhaven Family Dentistry and, like his partners, has a philosophy of giving back to others in the community and abroad. Dr. Merrithew will be going on his fourth dental mission trip to Guatemala in January 2018. After being exposed to this type of service to others by Dr. Niergarth back in 2010, Dr. Merrithew has embraced donating his time and skills to those in need. He has been a part of Deerhaven’s annual ‘Doctors with a Heart’ free dental day in Traverse City each year since 2005. In 2015 Dr. Merrithew partnered with the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry as a preceptor and mentor for their dental students through the ‘Victors for Veterans’ program, and he also enjoys helping our highly deserving military veterans through Deerhaven Family Dentistry’s free Veterans Day dental clinic. Dr. Merrithew has received numerous awards. He, along with his partners Dr. Beers and Dr. Niergarth, received a 2017 Public Service Award from the Michigan Dental Association. He is a fellow-elect with the Academy of Dentistry International, from whom he will receive his Fellowship at the American Dental Association Annual Session 2018, and has been awarded ‘Top Docs’ by his peers in northern Michigan numerous times. He has been a member of the Michigan Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Resort District Dental Society since 2004.
