Dr. Gassman graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry intending to practice in his home state of Idaho. However, he was drafted and began his dental career in Vietnam, caring for U.S. Marines. After a year in the war zone, he was transferred to San Diego and fell in love with the weather and the area. Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Gassman opened his dental practice in El Cajon.
