About Carol L. Skerpan, DMD
Dr. Carol Lee Skerpan is a doctor of dental medicine (D.M.D.) dedicated to gentle, personal, quality and complete dental- care. She moved her general dental practice to Manchester from Hartford in January 2000. She was born and raised in Milford, CT. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, she attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. This institution held dentistry as a ""branch-of- medicine""--and it's curriculum was heavy in medical education. Upon graduation she received the Mosby Scholarship Book Award. After graduation, Dr. Skerpan was the first female to attend and graduate with a certi- ficate from the two-year General-Dental-Residency at the Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Brookdale's medically-based program was known for being one of the most rigorous, strict and diverse dental residencies in the country. She was one of 200 applicants to this high-powered program. This residency accepted five dental graduates to train under the hospital's dental department-head world-renowned dental implantologist, Dr. Norman Cranin. ** All of this advanced dental education and heavy medical background gave Dr. Skerpan a wide exposure to a broader and more diverse set of dental experiences. But more importantly, such a background expanded her ability to offer a varied wide-range of comprehensive dental services. Dr. Skerpan actively maintains continuing education credits for the various aspects of dentistry in which she practices. Throughout her career the doctor has been a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA). She is presently a member of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
