About Alex Cox, DMD
Dr. Cox grew up in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Honors College at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Camden. Dr. Cox went on to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers University School of Dentistry) where he received his degree as a Doctor of Medical Dentistry. Dr. Cox continued his education in the US Navy, completing a one year advanced education residency in General Dentistry. During his Residency in Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Cox gained valuable clinical experience in all aspects of dentistry, including implants, IV sedation, oral sedation, root canals, cosmetic dentistry, and complicated exodontia. During that time Dr. Cox also worked part time at a local clinic serving underprivileged residents of Virginia. After residency, he served as staff dentist to 5,000 troops aboard the USS Eisenhower. During those 2 years, he was able to travel the world while further developing his dental skills. Since finishing his Navy duty in 2008, Dr. Cox has been working in private practice in Westchester and NYC. Because of the constant advances in dentistry, he considers being a dentist a lifelong learning process. Dr. Cox is a firm believer in continuing education as a means to maintain and advance his expertise in cutting-edge technologies and techniques. Cox FamilyHe has demonstrated this interest and commitment to dentistry by not only having completed the rigorous criteria to be awarded the FAGD (Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry) in July 2009, but also by being one of the youngest recipients of this distinction. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Fellowship was created more than 50 years ago to honor those who clearly recognize and embrace the professional obligation to remain current in their knowledge and skills in order to ensure delivery of the highest quality oral healthcare and to better serve patients. Today, a fellowship in the AGD is the most widely recognized designation within the dental profession, proving commitment to continuing education and serving as a model by which to measure professional excellence. Although Dr. Cox is immensely proud to have attained such a distinguished award as the FAGD fellowship, he does not consider this achievement to be the culmination of his educational efforts, but rather a marker and acknowledgement of his enduring commitment to expertise in general dentistry. Dr. Cox is married to formerly Dr. Lauren Herrmann, and they have two beautiful children together. Dr. Cox enjoys spending his free time outside and can be seen walking with his family and Yorkshire terriers around Eastchester and Scarsdale. He also enjoys golfing, CrossFit, hiking, and snowboarding.
