About Aj Smith, DMD

I am originally from Holland, Michigan. Following high school, I decided to continue my academic career at Adrian College in southeast Michigan. I majored in Biology and earned my bachelor’s degree while also playing NCAA Division III lacrosse for Adrian. After graduating from Adrian College, I attended Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree. During my time at Midwestern, I had the opportunity to serve on the board of multiple student organizations while also gaining invaluable clinical experience that has prepared me for providing the utmost level of dentistry to my patients. My passion for dentistry originally stemmed from a love of the sciences, healthcare, working with my hands, and most importantly, the opportunity to create and build lifelong relationships with patients while working together to improve oral health. I am now a member of the Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. I enjoy attending meetings and lectures that provide me with the most up-to-date standards, procedures, and technologies in order to stay current with the ever-changing field of dentistry. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Summer, and our English Bulldog, Wilbur. We enjoy camping, traveling, hiking, boating, biking and pretty much anything outdoors. I also love playing many sports and am always eager for a new challenge. Summer has even attempted to introduce me to and improve my ice hockey skills with her 20+ years of playing experience. I am thrilled to be joining the Elgin Dental Care family and cannot wait to build relationships with all of our patients!
