About Susan Thomas, DDS
Improving access to oral health care has always been a passion for Dr Thomas. Over the years she has volunteered her time and expertise abroad for various social causes, including vaccination camps, medical and dental checkup and treatment camps for public schools, health checkup camps, health awareness training, and health care centers in less privileged neighborhoods. In her spare time Dr. Thomas and her husband Dr. Parik Sharma, a cardiologist at Rush University, enjoy travelling and learning about new cultures. They share a common interest in music and meditation. Their ultimate goal is to give back to the community and those in need through their dental and medical expertise, both in the United States and internationally. Dr. Thomas earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, with honors in Esthetic Dentistry, from the New York University College of Dentistry, New York City—the largest and amongst the most prestigious dental schools in the United States. While at the university, Dr. Thomas was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a national dental honor society recognizing the top graduates in the country. In addition to this Dr. Thomas has completed a Bachelor in Dental Surgery degree from Mumbai University where she ranked first in her dental school. Dr. Susan Thomas is an experienced and highly qualified General Dentist at Tru Family Dental. Prior to joining our team, Dr. Thomas has practiced at the Richmond Smile Center in Virginia, a state-of-the-art office that specializes in full mouth reconstruction and complex dental cases. She has also gained significant experience in performing root canal procedures and has been the primary dentist rendering this treatment in all her prior offices. She has over 8 years of clinical experience working with various patient demographics and diverse populations. Dr Thomas is very passionate about providing dental care in the most pain-free way possible. She truly believes that by addressing the dental anxiety that most people have, we can create a very encouraging environment where patients can talk about their dental and health problems and help their family understand the value of good oral health as well. All I want is to be there for you and your family in every way and to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I believe that building a strong trusting relationship is the foundation for success of any medical or dental treatment we can provide.
