About Sheldon S. Hausman, DMD
After graduating from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Dr. Hausman attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Upon achieving his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree, he continued an additional two years as a resident in the Family Dentistry Residency program, receiving additional training in all specialty areas while remaining focused on a general dentistry career. Following completion of his residency, Dr Hausman spent more than a year as a full-time member of the dental school faculty. He then opened a private practice in Unionville in 1980 while continuing as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the dental school. Ten years later, he merged his practice with that of Dr. Collin Sanford to form Avon Family Dentistry. In 2002 they moved to their present location at 44 Dale Road. Dr. Hausman is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Hartford Dental Society. He is committed to offering the benefits of the latest advances in dental science to his patients, taking numerous continuing education programs every year. He is honored to have been selected by his peers as a Top Dentist in both Connecticut and Hartford Magazines. Dr. Hausman and his wife Christie share a home in Avon with their two dogs: a Golden-Lab mix and a rescue from Alabama. Dr and Mrs. Hausman have three adult children and a grandaughter. In his spare time, Dr. Hausman enjoys bicycling, tennis, gardening (especially growing dahlias), collecting old Lionel trains, and driving his Z3.
