About Michael Yuan, DMD
Dr. Yuan is originally from Orlando, Florida. A Florida local, he began swimming competitively at the age of 5. He continued his swimming career at the University of Florida, where he was elected as Team Captain for the University of Florida’s Men’s Swimming Team. While maintaining a rigorous athletic training schedule, he received his Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida. For his academic and athletic achievements, he was nominated for the All-Southeastern Conference H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Award Scholarship as the University of Florida’s top male scholar-athlete. Dr. Yuan received his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. During his time in dental school, he was Class President, the sole student representative on the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s Dean Search Committee, received numerous awards, and was inducted in the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Society for being in the top 10% of his class in academic achievement. He completed his surgical residency at Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia. There, Dr. Yuan received extensive training in advanced oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, including impacted wisdom teeth, dental implants, and bone grafting, facial trauma and reconstruction, orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), facial tumor and reconstructive surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, and general anesthesia. Dr. Yuan is experienced in treating patients of all ages. His extensive training at five hospitals including Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Emory University Hospital, Emory University Midtown, and Atlanta’s only nationally verified Level One Trauma Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, is reflective of his commitment to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He shows a great commitment to his patients, his local community, and international outreach. Dr. Yuan has participated in surgical mission trips to Haiti, Bolivia, and also volunteers at several local events in Florida. With his comprehensive training in dentistry, anesthesiology, maxillofacial surgery, dentoalveolar and implant surgery, Dr. Yuan looks forward to meeting and working with you. Outside of surgery, Dr. Yuan enjoys boating, fishing, and other water activities, exploring local and unique cuisine, spending time his family and friends, and watching movies with his fiancée Kayla and their rescue pets – Cat Lily and Labrador Retriever Isla.
