About Lana Shukhman, DDS
Dr. Lana Shukhman, or Dr. Lana as her patients will affectionately refer to her, is originally a Bay Area local. Dr. Lana’s interest in science led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in integrative biology with an emphasis on human anatomy and physiology from the University of California, Berkeley. Her academic excellence was recognized with several awards such as being a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and a member of the Dean’s List. Having spent much of her life in and around the dental profession (both as a result of growing up in a family with a number of dentists and having worked as a dental assistant and member of the dental front office), Dr. Lana chose to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles because of its strong clinical program. Her attendance at USC was noted with several honors, such as inclusion on the National Dean’s List, appointment as a teaching assistant in dental morphology/anatomy and a post-graduate teaching position in preclinical fixed prosthodontics. While studying at USC, Dr. Lana played an active role in the community, providing dental services to children, families and individuals at a Mobile Clinic in underserved areas of Southern California and at the USC Dental Clinic at the Union Rescue Mission. Dr. Lana is a skilled practitioner of general and cosmetic dentistry with experience in a variety of dental practices catering to families and individuals from different backgrounds in Southern California and Bay Area communities. Her passion for dentistry is evidenced by her membership in the Cambrian Study Club, the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society, the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Following in the footsteps of her aunt, Dr. Lana fell in love with the field of general dentistry because of the opportunities it provides for her to become close with her patients (adults, children and families in general), to watch their lives unfold, to care for all of their dental needs utilizing the latest technologies and materials and to bring into play her eye for esthetics and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Lana is the third generation dentist selected to carry on the quality care and personal attention developed in this practice because of her highly skilled and compassionate dental care.
