About Kent J. Spurling, DMD
A native of Mesa, Dr. Spurling graduated a Regent’s Scholar from Mountain View High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University. Earning a scholarship to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, he graduated at the top of the class with his doctorate. Dr. Spurling went on to receive an officer’s commission and trained under leading specialists in the United States Air Force Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. He served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and maintains his commission in the United States Air Force Reserve. Since entering civilian practice in Arizona, Dr. Spurling has stayed on the cutting edge of rapidly-evolving dental research and technology. His commitment to dental excellence for his patients has earned him associate fellowship status in the World Clinical Laser Institute, and fellowship status in the Academy of Laser Dentistry and the California Implant Institute. During a mercy mission to the Dominican Republic, Dr. Spurling met his wife, Viviana, who served as an interpreter for the ministry. Today Dr. Spurling and Viviana live in Mesa with two boys, Luke and Christopher. He finds balance to his professional pursuits as a teacher at his church and dedicated father and husband.
