About Kay Yoo, DDS
Dr. Yoo earned her DDS degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2001. While in the program, Dr. Yoo had particular interest on cosmetic dentistry. She also had deep interest on community services and engaged in various community activities. After practicing dentistry at dental clinics in Michigan for a few years, in 2004, Dr. Yoo joined the US Army as a dental officer. She practiced at the Carious Dental Clinic at Yongsan Garrison in Korea – 2004 to 2008 – treating soldiers, officers, and their family members. In 2008, she was appointed as the Division Dental Surgeon of the 2nd Infantry Division. While continue practicing, she supervised and managed dental readiness of over 5,000 soldiers and officers in the division. Practicing dentistry in the Army offered her great opportunities to practice various dental skills while learning the most advanced dental techniques. Dr. Yoo was promoted to Major in 2009. Proudly serving for the country, Dr. Yoo loved practicing dentistry in the Army but, as a mom of two boys, her commitment for the family was equally important. With her two sons – Michael and David – beginning school, she realized that it was time for her to commit more for their education. It was a tough decision but she decided to leave the Army and got separated in late 2009.
