About John W. Unger, DDS
Dr. John W. Unger received his B.S. degree from the University of Illinois. In 1972, he graduated with his D.D.S. from the same institution. He completed his certificate program in Prosthodontics at the University of Illinois and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Unger has previously taught at the University of Kentucky and the University of Detroit. He has been a member of the faculty since 1988 and is the W. Tyler Haynes Professor and Chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics. In addition, he was in the private practice of Prosthodontics in the Detroit area for seven years. He currently maintains a part-time practice in prosthodontics. Dr. Unger has been actively involved in prosthodontics research and has several publications in the field of prosthodontics including coauthoring a textbook on complete dentures. His interests outside dentistry include golf and thoroughbred horses.
