Surprisingly, I started out in college intent on becoming a zoologist. I was attending UC Berkley, heavily involved with animal research, especially whales.” Dr. Oliver knew it was either go into graduate school in that field and become involved in academics, or indulge his love of working closely with people and enter the medical field. “My dad was a periodontist, a dentist specializing in gum disease, but I didn’t know that much about what he did.” While taking a year off after graduating from UC Berkeley, Dr. Oliver visited his dad’s office and some of his colleagues to get to know the dental world. “I and knew it was something I was going to enjoy. I’ve now been in practice for over 25 years!
