About Dewitt C. Wilkerson, DMD
Dr. Wilkerson graduated from Emory University (B.S.) and the University of Florida, College of Dentistry (D.M.D.), where he completed a research mentorship under Dr. Parker Mahan, world-renowned authority on facial pain/TMJ disorders. He then joined the Dawson, Roach & DuPont dental practice in 1982. Dr. Wilkerson’s work emphasizes restorative and esthetic (cosmetic) procedures. He is adept at doing “extreme makeovers” as well as simpler smile enhancement procedures. A perfectionist, he is meticulously dedicated to both the art and science of giving people a beautiful smile. Having treated several thousand patients for various dental related problems, Dr. Wilkerson’s expertise has led him to be an extremely popular educator and leader in Dentistry. He has trained over 4,000 dentists through hands-on workshops with the Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Studies, where he serves as a senior lecturer. He served in 2010-2011 as President of the American Equilibration Society, the leading organization in the world for the study of dental occlusion (bite) and Temporomandibular Disorders. He currently is president of the American Academy for Oral and Systemic Health (AAOSH). He works closely with local physicians treating headaches, snoring and sleep apnea through oral appliances. Dr. Wilkerson and his terrific wife, Patricia, married in 1980 and have three wonderful children: Todd, Whitney and Ryan and an extraordinarily beautiful granddaughter, Carolina! The Wilkerson’s enjoy all sports together and love to travel. They have taken several dental missions trips as a family to wonderful places such as Kenya and Romania.
