About Tina Smith, MD
I have lived, studied and worked in many parts of the world. The Diablo Service Area Plastic Surgery Department began in 1988 when I was hired as the first plastic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek. Since then our department has evolved as our health membership has grown. Plastic surgery is more than a wonderful and challenging fusion of art and science. Playing inspiring and healing music in the operating room completes the trifecta of our life's work. Plastic surgery is a metaphor for life. Lessons learned as a plastic surgeon mirror and reinforce those in our daily lives. This has provided me as a surgeon, and every member of our department, with the privilege and opportunity to continually grow as surgeons, individuals, and as a team. Although a majority of patients who I now see are those needing breast-related procedures, our department cares for a wide variety of reconstructive plastic surgery procedures - but always with an optimal aesthetic goal.
