About Scott H. Smith, MD
Dr. Scott H. Smith, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive professional experience in both private and university-based academic practices. Dr. Smith’s expertise includes skin cancer screening, hyperhidrosis (excess sweating), medical and cosmetic dermatology. In keeping with the professional philosophy at MDI, Dr. Smith personally performs all laser and injectable treatments. Raised in Singapore, Tokyo, and Chicago, Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree with highest honors from the University of Pennsylvania, including studies at the University of Oxford, Christ Church College, England. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he also performed his internship at The Cambridge Hospital. Dr. Smith completed his residency in dermatology at Duke University Medical Center in 2006. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the International Hyperhidrosis Society. After a decade of clinical practice at Northwestern Medical Group in downtown Chicago, Dr. Smith joined Metropolitan Dermatology Institute to work with Dr. Jennifer Segal, his longtime friend and colleague from their Duke Dermatology residency.
