About Matthew Slivka, DMD
Dr. Matthew Slivka was born in Provo, Utah and raised in the Salt Lake Valley. He graduated with his Associate’s Degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho prior to transferring to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies with a minor in Russian studies. In participating in BYU’s International Studies program, Dr. Slivka was awarded a research grant and spent several months living in the Ukraine studying the local dental community. He relishes the experiences in the Ukraine, as well as the opportunity to visit the small town where his ancestors originally came from on the Slovakia-Ukraine boarder. Upon graduating from BYU Dr. Slivka pursued his dental education at Case School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, and Southern Arizona Dental Society. Dr. Slivka continues to stay current with modern treatment modalities by taking continuing education courses that include topics such as cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, and dental implants. Dr. Slivka has been practicing dentistry in Tucson since 2008. In July 2010 he opened his private practice, Rockside Dental. As the sole practice owner/dentist at Rockside Dental, Dr. Slivka makes it a top priority that each patient feels comfortable, welcome, and cared for at each visit. One of his favorite aspects of his job is talking with and getting to know his patients. Dr. Slivka loves spending time outdoors as well as reading. His favorite books include Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables and Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He enjoys trail running, hiking, and is an avid BYU football fan, but for Dr. Slivka nothing compares to the joys of being a dad. His favorite things include taking the kids to the pool, the park, or hiking in the mountains. Dr. Slivka has been married to his beautiful wife Becky since 2002 and they have six kids: Zoey (12) Isaac (11) Heidi (9) Annie (6) Macey (4) and little Sophie (2).
