About Kenneth E. Morgenstern, MD
Dr. Kenneth Morgenstern, MD, FACS, is one of the few surgeons in the Philadelphia area trained in oculo-facial plastic surgery (plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyes and surrounding structures) and facial cosmetic surgery. He possesses elite training and experience, which uniquely qualifies him as a specialist in performing cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries of the eyes, head, face and neck. His background includes extensive training in craniofacial surgery, ophthalmological surgery and facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Morgenstern is board certified, by the American Board of Ophthalmology. To become board certified, Dr. Morgenstern had to meet a number of stringent requirements, including meeting elite educational and training qualifications, and passing written and oral tests. Board-certified surgeons have gone the extra mile to demonstrate their expertise, knowledge and skill in a certain specialty. Dr. Morgenstern has extensive specialization in surgeries of the eyes and face. As an oculo-facial plastic surgeon and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Morgenstern has completed further fellowship training specific to plastic surgery of the eye area. This intensely focused fellowship training allowed him to gain experience and skill in reconstructing and aesthetically improving the eye and its surrounding structures. Additionally, Dr. Morgenstern is an active participant in his field, contributing to clinical research, lecturing, authoring articles and book chapters, and presenting both nationally and internationally. Dr. Morgenstern is actively involved in medical education at Wills Eye Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he works closely with ophthalmology residents both in clinic and in the operating room. He holds a patent for duct obstruction prevention, with many other patents pending. Dr. Morgenstern is a native of the Philadelphia area, where he attended Lower Merion High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University, where he was active in scientific research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After that, he returned to Philadelphia for medical school and obtained his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. He was awarded a categorical surgery position and slotted for chief residency at MCP/Hahnemann University. He was awarded the resident of the year award and won the Humanitarian award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He went on for further training in ophthalmology at West Virginia University, where he also served as Chief Resident. He continued his education with a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the Ohio State University and then completed his extensive medical training in craniofacial surgery at the Children's Hospital of Columbus, and his facial cosmetic surgery training at the Center for Facial Rejuvenation.
