About Katrina Spaunhurst
Dr. Katrina Spaunhurst is a welcome addition to our practice at DTLA Dermatology. She is a board certified dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She is expertly trained in all aspects of medical dermatology such as diagnosing and treating skin cancer, psoriasis, acne, and other conditions related to the skin, hair, and nails. Additionally, she is trained to perform surgical procedures relating to the skin, and cosmetic procedures such as Botox©, chemical peels, and the use of lasers.Dr. Spaunhurst grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended Pomona College in Claremont, California, graduating with a degree in Neuroscience. She graduated with honors from The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. During medical school, she dedicated an extra year to train in epidemiologic and clinical research on conditions such as basal cell carcinoma at the Stanford University Department of Dermatology. After graduating from USC, she completed her internship in internal medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California then trained in dermatology for three years at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was selected to be the VA Chief Resident her final year of residency and won the award for “Most Outstanding Resident Research Project” for her work on rosacea and the microbiome.
