About Joshua C. Vanhorn, DDS
Dr. Josh Van Horn was born and raised in Traverse City, where he graduated from Traverse City Central High in 2001. He then received a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Michigan State University. Prior to enrolling in dental school, Dr. Van Horn spent two years as a clinical research assistant at the University of Michigan Hospital where he was involved with numerous collaborative research studies focusing on head and neck oncology and radiation. Through those studies, Dr. Van Horn had the honor to co-author two distinguished research articles, while building a strong foundation of identifying oral cancer and other harmful oral conditions. He then went on to earn his D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Following dental school Dr. Van Horn completed a one-year General Practice Residency at The University of Michigan Hospital where he broadened his skill set further-treating significantly medically compromised patients, as well as administering general and IV sedation. In October 2014, Dr. Van Horn enrolled at the renowned Pankey Institute, continuing his lifelong pursuit of his professional education. Through his collective experiences and training, Dr. Van Horn has been continuously devoted to furthering his skill, knowledge and advancement of the profession. Through his collective experiences, Dr. Van Horn enjoys treating all ages of patients, providing numerous services, including complex restorative and cosmetic dentistry, oral and IV sedation, extractions and root canals. Dr. Van Horn is a member of American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. Dr. Van Horn joined Traverse Dental Associates in the summer of 2013 and is thrilled to have returned home to Traverse City with his wife and their two young sons. In addition to spending free time with his family, Dr. Van Horn enjoys ice hockey, golf, sailing, fly fishing, cycling, tennis and bird hunting with the family’s German Shorthaired Pointer.
