About John G. Mohler, DDS
Dr. John Mohler III graduated in May 2006, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, the first dental school in the world. He was blessed to receive several awards at graduation for his academic achievements and service to the school. Dr. Mohler has had extensive experience in treating medically and mentally challenged patients as part of a clerkship in the Special Patient Clinic at U of MD. Following graduation, he was selected for an additional year of training in a general practice residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. During this very rigorous year, he treated countless emergencies and was on call for the hospital emergency room. He gained extensive experience in dental trauma, implants, rotary endodontic therapy, hospital operating room dentistry and pediatrics. He served for several years on the Dean's Faculty at U of MD, teaching ethics to first and third year dental students. In July 2019, Dr. Mohler earned his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor held by less than 2% of general dentists in the US. This distinction is reserved for those who have completed over 1200 hours of continuing education, many of which are hands on participation courses, treating patients. Since 2011, he has served as the Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for the Maryland Academy of General Dentistry, planning the state dental meetings and bringing state-of-the-art lecturers to Baltimore for this organization each year. Dr. Mohler is the staff dentist for St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville. He is committed to providing care for those less fortunate, treating patients on trips to the Dominican Republic and El Salvador and closer to home at Special Olympics and the Western Maryland and mid-Maryland Missions of Mercy. He also provides care for the Donated Dental Program through the state of Maryland. Dr. Mohler is a lifetime, fourth-generation Catonsville resident, graduating from Mt. St. Joe High School and St. Mark School. He is also a proud graduate of Virginia Tech. He and his wife Jenny, a social worker and also a VT grad, have four small children, Abby(Aug 2011) and Jack(Oct 2013), Leland Marie(March 2016) and Daniel Joseph(November 2018).
