About Ari B. Gutman, MD
Dr. Ari Gutman sees general dermatology patients at PCD, and he runs our clinical trials unit. He attended NYU as an undergraduate, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Politics. While at NYU, he immersed himself in student life and served for two years as the Chairperson of NYU’s Student Senators Council, representing all graduate and undergraduate students. He was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, deferring his admission for one year to travel around South America. After coming back to the U.S., he took a job with the 2000 Census (which, lucky for him, is where he met his wife-to-be). After receiving his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, he did his internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, becoming Chief Resident during his final year of dermatology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Then, since he missed and loved Philadelphia so much, he decided to move back and set up shop! He has been in dermatology private practice with the Pennsylvania Centre for Dermatology since 2008. And since 2009 he has served as a Clinical Associate in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching dermatology residents, and doing inpatient consult rounds with them. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Gutman has served as a principal investigator in pharmaceutical research. He has also authored several peer-reviewed research publications in top dermatology journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Archives of Dermatology (now known as JAMA Dermatology), and the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. Dr. Gutman has also served as an expert witness in dermatology-related medical-legal cases. Dr. Gutman is committed to excellence. He has earned several awards and honors, and holds memberships in honorary societies, including Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude, and Alpha Omega Alpha. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, fixing things around the house, exercising (when he motivates), and simply kicking back and relaxing on the couch.
