About Aleksandr M. Itkin, MD
A dermatologist, Aleksandr Itkin, MD, has a wide variety of clinical interests from general dermatology to surgical excision and repair of skin cancers and benign tumors. His practice includes laser therapy for rosacea, tattoos, unwanted hair and blood vessels. He also offers laser and chemical peels for sun and age-related brown spots; photodynamic skin rejuvenation and Botox injections. Dr. Itkin’s primary research focus is on photodynamic therapy for skin cancer, pre-cancer and acne. This type of treatment involves application of a medication on involved skin and illumination of treated skin with a special blue light or a laser. While in medical school at Harvard, Dr. Itkin had an opportunity to study at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. During his dermatology residency, he was nominated and awarded a membership in Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society for his dedication to education of medical students and new dermatologists. Dr. Itkin’s professional memberships include the American Academy of Dermatology and the Massachusetts Medical Society. In his spare time he enjoys ballroom and Argentine tango dancing.
