New Year’s resolution season is upon us. While the rest of the world may be resolving to eat better or hit the gym more, here at AEDIT we are dreaming up ways to improve our skincare routines and try new cosmetic procedures.

From cracking the code on retinol use (how exactly does one go about using it without all the dry and/or irritating side effects?) to finding the right surgeon for a breast augmentation, the AEDIT team has an array of aesthetic plans for the New Year and beyond. Keep scrolling to see the skincare habits #TeamAEDIT is planning to adopt and the cosmetic procedures they’d like to try in 2020.

1. William, Founder & CEO

“I’m going to continue with my go-to skin and body care routine. In the shower, I start with the Kiehl’s Milk, Honey, and Almond Scrub. On the days that I shave, I use the Jack Black Post Shave Cooling Gel, which is formulated with aloe to soothe the skin. If I don’t shave, I’ll cleanse with the Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser and follow it up with the Kiehl's Facial Fuel SPF 20 moisturizer.”

2. Jaclyn, Senior Marketing Designer

“I'm adding the ZIIP nanocurrent device to my at-home skincare routine for the new year in an effort to reduce fine lines, sculpt my jawline, and improve my overall complexion. I'd also like to explore my options for a breast augmentation in 2020. It's something that I've wanted for about 10 years, and I'm finally empowered to find a trusted provider to perform the surgery.”

3. Paul, Director of Sales

“I’ve never had much of a skincare routine, but my daughters are encouraging me to try a facial scrub. Our beauty editors suggested the Reflekt 1 Daily Exfoliating Face Wash because it is a two-in-one cleanser and exfoliator that is gentle enough for daily use. They also told me I should be wearing a moisturizer with SPF everyday, so that may be next.”

4. Kristin, Senior Growth Marketing Manager

“My skin isn't heavily scarred or blemished, but this year I really started to see signs of aging and wrinkles. In 2020, I'm going to nail my retinol routine once and for all! And I'd love to start adding an essence to my regimen as well to smooth and brighten.”

5. Matthew, CTO

“I am Irish and get really red when it's warm or after a couple of drinks, so I am trying to take care of my skin more in 2020 with a variety of products. I am excited to start doing facials, and I ordered the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask for at-home use. I have also done Kybella® in the past and will probably do it again in 2020.”

6. Alyssa, Lead Product Designer

“I have a natural tendency to raise my eyebrows when speaking with other people, and I feel more engaged and confident. I'm interested in exploring brow lift options in 2020, either temporarily with Botox® or through a more permanent procedure — we'll see! And, as I inch out of my twenties, I'm also looking forward to discovering more preventative, at-home approaches to anti-aging. I’ll be staying hydrated and wearing SPF more consistently.”

7. Christopher, Lead Front End Engineer

“I am considering trying microneedling mainly because it's fairly non-invasive and helps promote collagen growth in the skin, which would help remove some scarring I have developed over the years. On the skincare front, I have a tendency to wash my hands quite frequently, so they become dry and oftentimes start bleeding or cracking in the winter. To deal with this, I put a generous dose of glycerin over my hands right before going to sleep, which helps keep them smooth for longer than a typical moisturizer or cream. Just a warning to those who have never tried this technique before, the glycerin will make your hands quite oily, and, depending on the severity of the dryness, it can cause a tingling or burning sensation. This is normal, but if it becomes bothersome, you can wash it off with soap and water and apply a smaller amount. ”

8. Yan, Product Designer

“I think it's time to start using anti-aging products, and I plan to add retinol to my skincare routine. I'm also thinking about Botox® for jaw slimming to get a slimmer jaw and a more balanced face.”

9. Sarah, Senior Brand Manager, Marketing & Communications

“I want to start taking care of the skin below my neck as much as I take care of my face, and I was just gifted the Necessaire Body Serum for the holidays. Coupling that with my goop Beauty G.Tox Ultimate Dry Brush will hopefully have my skin glowing in no time.”

10. Andrew, Front End Developer

“2019 was the first year I’ve had to deal with psoriasis, and it’s been a learning curve to understand what helps treat flare ups and what doesn’t. I know people have success with light therapy treatments, and I am considering trying it for myself in 2020.”

11. Marie, Product Designer

“For my skincare routine in 2020, I want to begin exfoliating once a week and start using an anti-aging eye cream. I'd also like to try a full-on facial! I've never had one before, so it would be cool to see results.”

12. Vivien, Assistant Editor

“I feel that in 2019 I’ve fallen out of my skincare routine, so my 2020 goal is to get back on track and establish a solid – yet attainable – evening regimen. I’ve also been looking into more preventative measures and considering Botox® for some time, so this year could be the year to try it.”

13. Daniel, Content Strategist

“In 2020, I might try some facial cleansing masks to help rejuvenate my skin.”

14. Meg, Editorial Director

“I got Botox® for the first time in 2019, and I think 2020 might be the year I try under-eye filler to treat my chronic dark circles. I am also resolving to reestablish my nightly gua sha routine that’s fallen out of practice. It’s a relaxing ritual with serious sculpting and clarifying benefits.”

15. Colleen, Regional Sales Manager

“I’ll be sticking with wearing SPF 50 on my face everyday in 2020, and I am getting better about applying it everywhere else!”
