About William M. Mcleish, MD
Dr. William McLeish hails from Chicago and joined Spectrum Dermatology after establishing a revered practice for 30+ years. Raised in Chicago, Dr. McLeish attended the University of Illinois where he studied engineering. He graduated from Rush University Medical School with AOA honors at the top of his class. Next, Dr. McLeish continued his medical training by completing an internship in Internal Medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke’s Hospital, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. McLeish received a highly competitive fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at the University of Utah and received the Heed Fellowship Award for training in academic medicine. His background includes work with the Mayo Clinic for over 20 years, where he served both the departments of Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery. Here, he became department chairman. Dr. McLeish also served as the head of Scottsdale Healthcare during his illustrious career and has trained over 100 residents and fellows. In addition to his medical practice and management, Dr. McLeish is also a prolific writer. His work can be found in several scientific publications, and he is an in-demand speaker at leading national conferences and events. Dr. McLeish is a regular volunteer, training overseas physicians, and US military members who provide medical care to marginalized communities around the globe. Dr. McLeish enjoys all activities outdoors and mechanical hobbies. Some of his deepest passions include the preservation of wildlands, supporting scientific research, and working with his hands.
