About Smita Aggarwal, MD
Smita Aggarwal, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and board-certified pediatric dermatologist. Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, Dr. Aggarwal earned an undergraduate degree from Duke University and medical degree from the University of Kansas. She then completed her dermatology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, and subsequently pursued a prestigious pediatric dermatology fellowship at Lurie Children’s Hospital, affiliated with Northwestern University, where she trained under several leaders and pioneers in the field. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, member of the Chicago Dermatological Society, and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. Dr. Aggarwal has published and presented over a wide range of topics in dermatology, including infantile hemangiomas, acne, and toxic epidermal necrolysis. She has conducted research in vaccine development at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Aggarwal received the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital Research Award for her interest in cardiovascular co-morbidities associated with pediatric psoriasis, and MAGIS Star Award for outstanding service and care from Loyola University Medical Center. While Dr. Aggarwal strives to provide compassionate and personalized care to patients of all age, her training in pediatric dermatology provides her with particular expertise in caring for even our smallest patients. Her clinical interests include autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in both the adult and pediatric population, vascular birthmarks, psoriasis, and the prevention and management of skin cancer.
