About Shefali Pilar, DDS
You will meet very few doctors that have a more kind or gentle nature than Dr. Shefali Pilar. Her conservative philosophy and meticulous technical skills are backed by strong ethical principles and an inherent need to provide quality care to her patients and their families. She also has a special way about herself to make even the most apprehensive and scared individual feel calmer and more at ease. Dr. Pilar grew up in Jersey City, NJ and graduated high school at the age of 17 as valedictorian of her class. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering at NJIT on a four year full scholarship. Dr. Pilar continued onward to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the oldest dental school in the United States, New York University’s College of Dentistry. After NYU, Dr. Pilar completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) which provided extensive advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, dental implant and surgical dentistry, anesthesia, medicine, pharmacology, implants, pediatrics, and treatment of medically compromised patients. Upon completion of the program, Dr. Pilar was immediately asked to return as a clinical instructor to train incoming resident doctors in all facets of dentistry. Dr. Pilar finds this to be such a rewarding experience that she devotes every Friday to teaching at the hospital based program. Dentistry is a constantly evolving profession and Dr. Pilar is committed to treating her patients with the most up to date information, materials, procedures, and techniques. In order to provide and maintain the highest standard of care, Dr. Pilar constantly participates in a variety of continuing education courses and seminars. She also enjoys professional affiliations with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the New Jersey Dental Association. On a more personal note, Dr. Pilar is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Maulin and they have two beautiful daughters, Sarina and Leia.
