About Rupi Buttar, DDS
Dr. Rupi Buttar is a general dentist and has been practicing dentistry since 2008 in the Bay Area. After receiving her dental degree (DDS) from the UCSF School of Dentistry Dr. Buttar went into community dentistry. Dr. Buttar worked side by side for almost 2 years in a community clinic and pediatric dental practice where she gained first-hand experience serving the underserved community and experienced the power of compassion and limited resources to make dentistry work. During this time, Dr. Buttar cultivated her love and compassion of working with children and learned limited Spanish. She is a strong believer in prevention of dental problems like tooth decay and gum disease with patient education and communication. To employ her academic skills, Dr. Buttar joined the UCSF School of Dentistry in 2010 as a full time faculty member. She served as a Course Director for International Dental Program students for 4 consecutive years, Lecturer, Clinical Coach, Instructor and mentor for domestic as well as International dental students. While at UCSF, she provided valuable input to the interview and selection process of dental school candidates and new faculty. Dr. Buttar taught at UCSF for 7 years.
