About Regina E. Rodman, MD

Dr. Regina Rodman is a facial plastic surgeon who is able to treat a wide range of problems in the face and neck. She did her residency in Otolaryngology (ENT surgery) at the University of Texas Houston where she was chief resident her final year and was voted as resident of the year for her outstanding performance. She was then selected to do advanced training in facial plastic, reconstructive and craniomaxillofacial surgery at SUNY Upstate in New York. Her fellowship is one of the only facial plastic fellowships that focuses on craniofacial surgery as well as complex head and neck reconstruction. Because she specifically focuses on the face, she is able to perform a range of procedures that enhance both bony and soft tissue problems. Dr. Rodman sees her role as surgeon as part of helping people on their journey of health and wellness. Outside of her busy clinical schedule, she makes time for exercise. She has played multiple sports including rugby, soccer, kickboxing, run marathons, adventure races, and is currently training as a competitive CrossFit athlete. She trains out at a gym in Houston but has participated in CrossFit competitions throughout the United States. “My hope is that every person finds a physical activity they love, and if I can help improve their experience, then I have done my job.” Dr. Rodman is able to help athletes with nasal obstruction from sinus disease, septal deviation, as well as facial trauma from sports injuries. Although Dr. Rodman is an outstanding physician, she did not start her career as a doctor. As an undergraduate she studied cultural anthropology and applied this background to work in social services, managing a group home before deciding to pursue medicine. She says “I think my background in social work makes me compassionate and gives me a different perspective on health care.” Since deciding on a career as surgeon, she has authored multiple articles on reconstructive surgery for clinical review, peer-reviewed journals, as well as multiple chapters in plastic surgery textbooks. She has given presentations at meetings across the country and has been the invited speaker at several academic institutions. She has been awarded leadership grants by the American Academy of Otolaryngology and her work in basic science research won first place at the Houston Society of Otolaryngology Resident Research Competition. She has represented her peers as elected delegate to the student section of the American Medical Association, as well as the Association of American Medical Colleges. She continues to be involved in organized medicine as she believes it her duty to advocate for high-quality health care.
