About Nikisha Q. Richards, MD
Dr. Richards is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She joined the VCU Department of Ophthalmology as an assistant professor in October of 2015. In addition to treating various conditions of the eye socket, eyelid, and tear ducts, she has a special interest in the vision preserving surgery called optic nerve sheath fenestration and the treatment of orbital tumors. Dr. Richards earned her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. In addition to this training, Dr. Richards went on to complete a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Richards is originally from Flint, Michigan, and now resides in Richmond. She loves all things jazz, live theatre, exploring new restaurants, and hanging around town with her golden retriever, Bruce.
