About Nicholas Ritzcovan, DDS
Dr. Ritzcovan grew up right down the road in Somers, New York graduating from Somers High School. Immediately following graduation he felt the call to serve his nation and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. After a successful career which entailed numerous overseas deployments, he rose from the rank of private to the rank of Major. Following this service where integrity, justice and dedication to one’s duty is paramount, he then decided to take on the new challenge of becoming a dentist. After years of study he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Ritzcovan completed his residency training at the Veteran’s Administration in Castle Point, New York and was awarded his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate. It was at this point, Dr. Ritzcovan and his family decided to move to Ridgefield, Connecticut. Dr. Ritzcovan worked in a large group practice for many years in the Hudson Valley area while he earned his Fellowship in the surgical placement dental implants. While working in New York, Dr. Ritzcovan always hoped for an opportunity to purchase a practice in the town where he now lived. In 2018, that opportunity to purchase a practice in Ridgefield finally presented itself as longtime resident and dentist, Dr. James Finklea, thought about retirement. With Dr. Finklea’s help and a hardy handshake, the practice was purchased in July 2018. Now that Dr. Ritzcovan was now working and living in Ridgefield he decided to call his practice, “Hometown Dental”. He wanted his patients to feel “at home” during their dental visits so the office has been made to feel welcoming and warm. Dr. Ritzcovan has been married to his lovely wife for 19 years and has one beautiful young daughter and a more than friendly, chocolate lab. Dr. Ritzcovan enjoys hiking, fishing, art and working in the yard. He thrives on continuing education courses and always searches out new treatment opportunities.
