About Michael J. Fazio, MD
Dr. Michael Fazio was born and raised in Southern California. He attended California Polytechnic Uniersity in Pomona where, in addition to working toward his undergraduate degree, he also played baseball. Dr. Fazio transferred to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he completed his undergraduate studies. He then continued his education at Creighton University and went on to receive his Medical Doctorate in 1985. Dr. Fazio completed his internship at UCLA and Sepulveda VA Hospital. He was then accepted at Thomas Jefferson University for dermatology. While at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Fazio was a recipient of a National Institute of Health grant. He also received many awards for his research in dermatology at Thomas Jefferson Molecular Institute of Dermatology. After completing his residency in dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fazio accepted a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery under the direction of Dr. John Zitelli, who was trained by Dr. Frederic Mohs himself. During his fellowship with Dr. Zitelli in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fazio pioneered research for which he was honored by the American College of Mohs Surgery with the prestigious Tromovitch award. This award is given to the top fellow research each year. Dr. Fazio and Dr. Zitelli have co-authored several articles in the field of Mohs and reconstructive surgery. In 1991, Dr. Fazio completed his fellowship and moved to the Sacramento area, joining the Mohs surgery practice of Dr. Jack Sebben. Shortly after, Dr. Fazio acquired the practice and continues the work in this private practice today. Dr. Fazio has been married to his wife, Linda, for over 30 years and together they have 3 children. Dr. Fazio’s hobbies include golf, fishing, cycling and playing the guitar.
