About Lea J. Bellomo, MD
Dr. Bellomo graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, was awarded the Jackson-Ulmer Award for Excellence in Biochemistry and received the American Chemical Society Award for Achievement in Organic Chemistry. She received her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was awarded the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement by the American Medical Women’s Association. Dr. Bellomo completed an internship in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island, NY. She then completed her residency in dermatology at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she served as chief resident. Most recently, she co-authored a chapter in the textbook Melanoma: A Modern Multidisciplinary Approach, which was published in June 2018.
