About Larry C. Young, DDS
Dr. Young was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, lived in Hampton, South Carolina, and in 1969, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University. He attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1973. After spending two years working as a dentist in the U.S. Army Dental Corp in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where, in 1975, he opened Larry Young Dental his private practice offering general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Young has been active in organized dentistry, serving as President of the Jacksonville Dental Society from 1990 - 1991. He also served as an adjunct assistant clinical professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry from 1990 - 2003 in the undergraduate clinic’s department of Fixed Prosthodontics. He has had training at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he is a member of their alumni association. Dr. Young is also a member of the Jacksonville Dental Society, Northeast District Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Alpha Omega dental fraternity. Dr. Young is currently serving on the Board of Directors at Florida State University – Jacksonville for the schools of dental assisting and dental hygiene. He is on staff at River Garden Hebrew home for the aged, and was recently recognized in Jacksonville Magazine as one of the ""Top 100 Dentists."" He is married to Jacksonville resident, Barbara Mendelson Young. Together they have four children and 10 grandchildren. His father- in-law, Max Mendelson, was in a general dental practice in Jacksonville for over 50 years. Dr. and Mrs. Young’s son, Dr. Brian Young, is a local periodontist. The family is proud to have three generations provide dental care in the Jacksonville area. Dr. Young maintains a full time practice in general and cosmetic restorative dentistry. Treating friends, who happen to be his patients, is his passion. When he is not helping patients with beautiful healthy smiles, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exercising, attending Gator and Jaguar football games, and relaxing at the beach.
