About Kyle R. Ver Steeg, MD
Dr. Ver Steeg is board certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Ver Steeg is a 2001 graduate of Northwestern University Medical School. He completed a five year General Surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas and a two year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. While studying in Louisville, Dr. Ver Steeg received training in hand surgery at the esteemed Kleinert and Kutz Institute. Upon graduation in 2008, Dr. Ver Steeg started his own solo private practice in central Iowa and has brought his expertise to hospitals within 100 miles of his home, greatly expanding the scope of services offered at several of Iowa's rural hospitals. In 2015 Dr. Ver Steeg relocated to Traverse City, Michigan and joined a group practice. After two years, he started Grand Traverse Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ver Steeg is an avid outdoorsman and has served as the team physician on South American expeditions including the Amazon 5000. He regularly volunteers his skills overseas and at home as a member of Team Rubicon, most recently spending time in the Philippines following typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Dr. Ver Steeg is also an accomplished knife maker and drummer. He leads his own band and performs with nationally touring musicians. He and his wife, Gretchen have three daughters.
