About John Toumanios, DDS
John Toumanios, DDS practices all phases of dentistry and is a family dentist treating people from age three through the geriatric years. In a recent interview, Dr. Toumanios revealed that: …one of the reasons I became a dentist is the psychology involved in the profession. Taking a patient who is fearful (no matter what the age) and having he or she comfortable in my practice is very gratifying. Also, treating someone who is shy and introverted because they are self-conscious about their smile and then fixing that smile and seeing the change in personality - wow! From a medical standpoint; when I diagnose, I look at the entire picture. Do you know how many sinus infections I've discovered that have presented as tooth aches? Frequently, people undergoing a great deal of stress grind their teeth and have mouth pain. A lesser diagnostician would be doing unnecessary dentistry to relieve these symptoms. It isn't just about getting top quality dentistry because we also give you the personal touch. We are like the folks on that old TV sitcom Cheers where everybody knows your name, and you know ours. My staff never changes and they are the best at what they do. John Toumanios, DDS graduated from SUNY at Albany in 1983 with a BS degree. He completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Columbia University Dental School in 1987. He did a General Practice Residency at Booth Memorial Medical Center in Flushing, New York. He is a Recipient of the Pierre Fauchard award, recognized by the International Association of Dentists as a leading Physician of the World and Top General and Family Dentist and a member of the Academy of General Dentists. He is also a guest lecturer at Columbia University Dental School and a participant in their mentor program. He has been in private practice since 1990.
