About Jennifer Chwalek, MD
Jennifer Chwalek, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in procedural dermatology and in cutaneous laser surgery. She specializes in cosmetic and laser procedures, Mohs micrographic surgery, and non-invasive body contouring treatments. Dr. Chwalek graduated from Vassar College with honors and received her medical degree and residency training from the University of Maryland where she was elected to the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Following medical school, she spent a year researching hair loss at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center where she teaches the latest cosmetic and surgical techniques to dermatology residents and fellows. Dr. Chwalek has lectured at numerous national and international conferences and has written book chapters and articles for peer-reviewed journals. She is on the Board of Directors for the Shade Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to preventing skin cancer through educating children, parents and teachers. In addition, Dr. Chwalek is a regular contributor to national skin care and beauty media, including: Glamour, Allure, Brides, Soul Cycle, Shape, In Style, and New Beauty. Dr. Chwalek is also particularly interested in the intersection of Eastern and Western medicine and the effects yoga and meditation have on overall wellness and skincare. She is a Vinyasa-trained yoga instructor and a long-time student and practitioner of meditation and Ayurveda. She strives to blend these holistic practices with minimally invasive dermatology techniques to achieve natural and healthy skin.
