About James Behan, MD
I was raised in Sparta, New Jersey and moved to San Diego for college. After college, I worked in biotech and later academia performing research in the tumor microenvironment. Throughout my college years and after I participated in competitive powerlifting, this hobby ended with me lifting 677 pounds to place second in the deadlift at the 2004 World Championship. Eventually I moved up the West Coast to Los Angeles to continue my research interest at a Children's Hospital before moving on to medical school. I remained in the LA area for internship but then moved to Colorado for part of my residency training. While I enjoyed my time and training in Colorado, I was fortunate to return to Los Angeles to reunite with my family and complete residency. It was a privilege to train at two great institutions. I enjoy all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology as well as the application of evidence based medicine. In addition to helping my patients with their dermatological needs, I look forward to incorporating ideas for sun protection that are easy and effective for everyday use.
