About Heidi M. Gilchrist, MD
Dr. Gilchrist is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who is devoted to providing excellent patient care. She is a professional dedicated to providing patients with a nurturing approach to skin care in a space that is conscious of environmental concerns, while giving back to the community she serves. Dr. Gilchrist has solid foundational training in conventional Western medicine, but she also embraces an integrative approach to skin health and disease prevention, including individualized dietary recommendations, stress reduction practices, and natural skin conditioners. After completing her dermatology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Dr. Gilchrist went on to a fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System. She then spent 2 years enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest while working for Kaiser Permanente before pursuing her dream of opening her own practice here in Southern California. She was deeply happy to finally establish her roots in the Encinitas community. She remains a strong advocate for empowering people through education to make their own health care choices, and she believes in staying connected to her community by supporting local businesses. Dr. Gilchrist also enjoys swimming, dancing, cooking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her cockatiel, Peep.
