About Fred Wilder, MD
Dr. Fred Wilder is accomplished in all aspects of plastic surgery, he prides himself mostly on the honesty and respect with which he evaluates each individual. His goal is to treat every patient as if they were a member of his own family. Dr. Wilder is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and American Board of Surgery. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. Recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” Dr. Wilder began his practice in Austin, TX in 1986, and has been active in both the medical and civic community ever since. He has received recognition as a Texas “Super Doctor” annually since 2004, and was listed among Austin Monthly’s “Best Plastic Surgeons.” Dr. Wilder also performs cosmetic surgeries for the face, skin, abdomen, breasts, and body. After completing a 5-year general surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX, he was named Chief Resident in his final year. Then, he was accepted as 1 of only 2 residents per year at the prestigious Cronin, Brauer, & Biggs Clinic at St. Joseph Hospital, which boasts pioneers in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including the inventor of the modern-day breast implant. Dr. Wilder began his career focusing on all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a special emphasis on cleft lip and palate surgery. A founding member of Austin Smiles in 1986, Dr. Wilder continues to travel frequently to underdeveloped countries to perform these operations. His experience in reconstructive surgery, especially breast reconstruction, has given him an added advantage when performing elective aesthetic procedures. Dr. Wilder was born in Salzburg, Austria, and he has been married since 1977. He and his wife, Debbie, have raised a daughter and a son, who are both in the medical field. When Dr. Wilder is not working, there is nothing he enjoys more than spending time with his family, and pursuing outdoor activities, such as cycling, golf, skiing, hiking, and fishing. His community and civic activity includes serving on community boards and serving as an elder at his church.
